I have always loved dogs. Throughout my childhood I had more dogs than I can remember. My first was fagen, a black and white English Springer. My last two (before I moved away from home for college) were Tanner and Baron - a Collie/Golden mix and a Newfy/Golden mix, respectively. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve old-timey walks through the woods and marshes of Southampton, MA with my various dogs, getting into trouble and having to be hosed off with them upon our return.

The most amazing dog moments I’ve ever witnessed involves Tanner. A few days after we got him as an adult, we started letting him outside. Back then there were no strict leash-laws, and since we lived in a small farming town, we always let our dogs out without tying them. The first day we let Tanner out he was out for a few hours on his own. When we went to let him in he was gone. We figured he was out exploring the town the way all of our dogs had, so we didn’t think much of it and waited for him to return. The next day we got a call from his previous owner who lived in Hartford, CT (about 45 miles away). It seems that overnight Tanner had journeyed all the way home. It’s amazing what dogs can do. I hope to be able to have dogs again someday, but for now I have two wonderful cats. I live in Jamaica Plain and when I am not walking your dogs I am a professional Jazz vocalist. I sing in Boston’s award-winning a cappella group firedrill! - www.firedrillband.com
